New Delhi: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has recommended approximately 3.61 lakh candidates for appointment to various Central Government posts during the last four financial years, from 2022-23 to 2025-26, based on vacancy requisitions received from different Ministries and Departments.
This information was provided by Union Minister of State for the Prime Minister’s Office, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh, in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.
The Minister informed the House that the recommendations made by the SSC were based on the vacancies reported by various Ministries and Departments for direct recruitment.
Dr. Jitendra Singh further stated that compiled information regarding the sanctioned posts and persons-in-position across various Ministries and Departments of the Central Government is published in the Annual Reports of the Pay Research Unit under the Department of Expenditure. However, he clarified that detailed records relating to sanctioned strength, the number of employees in position, and the filling up of vacant posts are maintained individually by the respective Ministries and Departments.
The Minister said the Government has issued instructions to all Ministries and Departments to ensure the timely reporting of vacancies meant for direct recruitment to the designated recruiting agencies, namely the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). This, he said, is intended to facilitate the filling of vacancies in a time-bound manner.
Highlighting the Government’s recruitment efforts, Dr. Jitendra Singh said vacancies in the Union Government are being filled on a mission mode, with several lakh appointment letters already distributed to recommended and selected candidates through the National Rozgar Mela events, which have been held regularly since October 2022.
The Minister said these initiatives reflect the Government’s continued efforts to accelerate recruitment, streamline the appointment process, and fill vacant posts across Central Government departments in a timely and transparent manner.
