SSC has announced 1,748 JE vacancies for 2026 in various engineering fields. Applications are open until September 22, with Paper-I in October/November and Paper-II scheduled for December 1.
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced the SSC JE Recruitment 2026 for Junior Engineer posts in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Telecom fields. It has also announced vacancies for Scientific Assistant posts in the India Meteorological Department (IMD). A total of 1,748 posts are available under Advertisement Number HQ-C-3019/1/2026-C-3.
The recruitment notice was issued on September 2, 2026, and the online application process also started on the same day. Interested candidates can apply until September 22, 2026, up to 11 pm.
The recruitment is for Group ‘B’ Level-6 posts in central government departments and organisations such as CPWD, MES, BRO and IMD.
SSC JE Recruitment 2026: Key Details
Candidates selected for these posts will receive a Level-6 salary ranging from Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 1,12,400.
The age requirement is 18 to 30 years or 32 years, depending on the post and department. The age will be counted as on August 1, 2026. Candidates will get age relaxation as per government rules.
Applicants must have a degree or diploma in the required engineering field for the technical posts.

The application fee is Rs. 100 for male candidates from the UR, OBC and EWS categories. SC, ST, PwBD, ESM and female candidates do not have to pay the fee.
Candidates making corrections in their forms will have to pay Rs. 200 for the first correction and Rs. 500 for the second correction.

Selection Process And BRO Requirements
The selection process will include Paper-I, which is a qualifying Computer Based Examination, followed by Paper-II. The final merit list will be prepared based on the required selection criteria.
The concerned government departments will carry out document verification. For candidates applying for BRO posts, Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Physical Measurement Test (PMT), and physical and medical standards will also be applicable.
Only male candidates can apply for Junior Engineer posts in BRO. They must be able to complete a one-mile run within 10 minutes and meet the required height, chest and eyesight standards.
