SSC has announced 2,536 CHSL posts. Class 12-pass candidates can apply by 7 October.
Tier-II has also been revised, with all candidates required to attempt all four sections.
How will the Tier-II exam be evaluated?
- Negative marking: One mark will be deducted for every wrong answer in Sections I, II and III. The Computer Knowledge Test and Skill/Typing Test will be qualifying in nature.
- Their marks will not be added to the merit list, but candidates must qualify in them.
- Merit: Candidates will be shortlisted for Tier-II based on their Tier-I performance. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks scored in Sections I and II of Tier-II.
- Qualifying marks: 30% for General category candidates, 25% for OBC and EWS candidates, and 20% for candidates from other categories.
Salary structure for all four posts

- Recruitment will be conducted for around 2,536 posts of Lower Division Clerk (LDC)/Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Data Entry Operator (DEO) and DEO Grade-A. Candidates can apply until 7 October.
- There has been a change in the Tier-II examination pattern this year. All candidates will have to appear for all four sections. The final merit list will be prepared based on Sections-I and II.
- Until last year, candidates were shortlisted for evaluation of Sections-III and IV based on their performance in Sections-I and II.
- Those who did not meet the required performance criteria were not evaluated for these two sections.
Eligibility, Age Limit and Application Fee
- For LDC/JSA and most DEO posts, passing 12th from a recognized board/university is required.
- For some DEO/DEO Grade-A posts, passing 12th from the Science stream with Mathematics is required.
- This condition applies to the relevant DEO posts in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, SSC, and the Ministry of Culture.
- Students awaiting their 12th results can also apply, but they must pass 12th by 7 October.
- Age must be between 18 and 27 years as of 1 August, 2026.
- Reserved categories will get age relaxation in the maximum age limit as per rules.
- The application fee is Rs 100 for general candidates.
- All other candidates do not need to pay any fee.
