Today on September 30, 2026 The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has started the SSC CGL Tier 1 Examinations. The exam will be held until October 30,2026 in computer-based mode in shifts at various centres.
Candidates who are appearing for the exam must check their admit cards and the exam date, shift, reporting time and centre details carefully.
The SSC CGL 2026 recruitment is for Group B and Group C posts. The Commission has received over 28 lakh applications this year. This large number makes it very important for every candidate to pay attention to the exam-day requirements.
The SSC CGL Tier 1 exam will be conducted in three shifts. The reported schedule is as follows:
Candidates should report timely on their respective shifts at assigned centres as mentioned in the admit cards.
Do not consider the gate closing time as the final one.
Documents required to carry for SSC CGL Tier 1, 2026 examinations:
The Tier 1 examination is a computer-based exam. It consists of 100 questions for 200 marks. The exam is divided into four sections:
Each section has 25 questions. Candidates have 15 minutes to complete each section. There is a marking of 0.50 marks for every incorrect answer. Candidates should not guess randomly, especially if they are not sure about the answer.
The examination candidates should check the centre location and plan their route accordingly taking buffer time to reach. Any last‑minute delay can become a problem because entry is subject to the gate‑closing time.
The candidates should read all instructions printed on their admission certificate carefully and follow the given directions by the examination staff. SSC also clicks photographs to verify the candidates so you should keep their face clearly visible and follow the required seating and examination instructions.
Do not carry any electronic devices or any other unnecessary belongings to the centre. Candidates should keep their exam‑day kit (preferably in a transparent pouch/folder) limited to the documents and items specifically permitted by SSC.
1. Any candidate should not start any new topic right before the exams. It is better to go over the PYQs, personal notes made while preparing, and check all the new headlines.
2. Stay relaxed, hydrated and keep track of time for each section carefully.
3. Candidates should also keep in mind that the exam will take place on dates and across different shifts. The Staff Selection Commission says that scores from shifts are normalised. These normalised scores are then used to fix cut-offs and decide merit lists.
4. For any updates or details that apply directly to candidates students must refer to the official SSC website (https://ssc.gov.in/ ) and their own admission certificate. They should not depend on any random social media posts or information from unofficial sources.
