The Staff Selection Commission is going to conduct the Open Competitive Computer-Based Examination for direct recruitment to the posts of: Stenographer Grade ‘C’ – Group ‘B’ (Non-Gazetted) and Stenographer Grade ‘D’ – Group ‘C’.

The online application process is now over, and those who have applied for the post are now eagerly waiting for the exam date and the release of the admit card. As per the official Notification, the Computer-Based Exam (CBE) for SSC Steno 2026 is scheduled to be held in July-August 2026; however, the exact exam dates are yet to be announced.

Along with exam date, the Commission will also release details regarding the Exam City Intimation, Admit Card, and Slot Booking (if required).

SSC Stenographer Exam Date 2026

The exam date for SSC Stenographer 2026 will be announced by SSC on its official website at www.ssc.gov.in. The exam is expected to be held over multiple days in multiple shifts across all exam centres of SSC. This is an online exam and the duration is 2 hours.

Also, from this year onwards, the Commission has introduced sectional timing as well in the exam pattern. SSC Stenographer 2026 Selection Process

The selection process consists of the following stages:

  1. Computer-Based Examination (CBE): It is conducted to assess the knowledge of the candidates and the total duration is 2 hours. Marks obtained in CBE will be used for final merit making.
  2. Skill Test in Stenography: This test is conducted to assess the stenography skills of the candidates and if they are suitable for the post or not.
  3. Document Verification: Original documents and certificates of the qualified candidates will be verified by the department
  4. Final Merit List: The final selection list will be prepared based on CBE marks but only those who qualify the Steno skill test and DV round, will be considered for final selection.
