The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has started the application process for the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination, or SSC CHSL 2026. The commission has invited online applications for approximately 2,536 tentative vacancies. Eligible candidates can submit the SSC CHSL 2026 application form through the official website. The last date to apply is October 7, 2026, up to 11 pm, while the deadline for online fee payment is October 8, 2026, up to 11 pm. The application correction window will be available from October 14 to 16, 2026.
The recruitment drive will fill Group C posts, including Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Data Entry Operator (DEO) and DEO Grade ‘A’ in various ministries, departments and offices of the Government of India.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who have passed Class XII or an equivalent examination from a recognised board or university can apply for LDC, JSA and general DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ posts. For certain DEO and DEO Grade ‘A’ posts in specified departments, candidates are required to have passed Class XII in the Science stream with Mathematics as a subject.
The age limit is 18 to 27 years as on August 1, 2026. Candidates should have been born between August 2, 1999, and August 1, 2008. Age relaxation is applicable to eligible reserved-category candidates as per government rules.
The application fee is Rs 100 for eligible general/OBC/EWS male candidates. Women candidates, SC, ST, PwBD and eligible ex-servicemen candidates are exempted from paying the fee. Candidates can pay the fee through BHIM UPI, net banking, or eligible debit cards.
Selection Process
The selection process comprises Tier-I and Tier-II computer-based examinations, followed by the Computer Knowledge Test and applicable Skill Test or Typing Test. Candidates will also have to undergo document verification.
Tier-I will be used to shortlist candidates for Tier-II. Final merit will be prepared based on marks obtained in Section-I and Section-II of Tier-II, subject to candidates qualifying in the Computer Knowledge Test and applicable skill or typing test.
