The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will close the SSC CGL 2026 application process today for 12,256 vacancies. Eligible candidates can submit their applications through the official website, ssc.gov.in.

The last date to pay the application fee online is June 23, 2026. SSC will open the application correction window from June 29 to July 1, 2026.
This year, SSC has reintroduced vacancies for the Assistant Audit Officer (AAO) post and introduced sectional timing in both Tier I and Tier II examinations.
The age limit for SSC CGL 2026 posts ranges from 18 to 32 years, depending on the post.
Candidates must complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) process before filling out the application form.
How to Apply for SSC CGL 2026
- Step 1: Visit the official website at ssc.gov.in.
- Step 2: Log in using your OTR credentials.
- Step 3: Fill in the required details, including educational qualifications, job preferences and personal information.
- Step 4: Upload your photograph and signature according to the prescribed format.
- Step 5: Select the posts you want to apply for.
- Step 6: Choose up to three preferred examination centres by region.
- Step 7: Pay the application fee of Rs 100. Women candidates and those belonging to SC, ST, PwD and Ex-Servicemen categories are exempted from paying the fee.
- Step 8: Review the details carefully and submit the application.
- Step 9: Download and save the confirmation page for future reference.
SSC CGL 2026 Vacancy Details
The SSC CGL 2026 notification has announced 12,256 vacancies across various government departments.
The vacancy count is lower than previous years. SSC offered 14,582 vacancies in 2025 and 17,727 vacancies in 2024.
SSC CGL 2026 Exam Pattern
Tier I will include 100 questions carrying two marks each. Candidates will lose 0.5 marks for every incorrect answer. The examination duration is one hour.
Tier II consists of three papers.
Paper I is mandatory for all candidates and includes four sections. Section I covers Mathematical Abilities and Reasoning and General Intelligence, with 30 questions each. Section II includes English Language and Comprehension with 45 questions carrying 135 marks and General Awareness with 25 questions carrying 75 marks.
Section III includes a Computer Knowledge Test with 20 questions for 60 marks. Section IV consists of a Data Entry Speed Test (DEST), which is qualifying in nature.
Paper II, which covers Statistics with 100 questions for 200 marks, applies only to candidates seeking Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) and Statistical Investigator Grade II posts.
Paper III covers General Studies in Finance and Economics with 100 questions carrying 200 marks. It applies only to candidates applying for Assistant Audit Officer and Assistant Accounts Officer posts.
Except for the English Language section, all Tier II questions will be available in both English and Hindi.
