SSC CHSL 2026 registration begins: Check how to apply, fee, key dates, vacancies and direct link

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the notification for the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination, 2026, with applications invited for approximately 2,536 tentative Group C vacancies. The recruitment covers Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC), Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Data Entry Operator (DEO) and DEO Grade ‘A’ posts in various Ministries, Departments and Offices of the Government of India.

The SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026 notification was issued on September 7, 2026, under Advertisement No. HQ-C1102/5/2026-C-1. Eligible candidates can apply through the official SSC website from September 7 to October 7, 2026, up to 11:00 PM. Candidates who have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination from a recognised board are eligible to apply.

SSC CHSL 2026 application steps

• One-Time Registration (OTR): Candidates need to visit the official website and complete a fresh OTR. Registrations made on the old portal, ssc.nic.in, will not work on the new portal, ssc.gov.in.
• Aadhaar Authentication: Candidates can use Aadhaar-based authentication during registration for faster verification.
• Log In: After creating the new credentials, candidates can access their candidate dashboard.
• Select Examination: Go to the “Apply” section and select the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination, 2026.
• Fill Details: Enter the required personal, educational and preferred examination centre details.
• Upload Documents: Capture a live photograph and upload the scanned signature.
• Pay Fee: Pay the application fee, if applicable, and submit the form.
• Save Copy: Download and print a final copy of the submitted application.

SSC CHSL 2026 application dates and deadlines

The online application process opened with the release of the notification. Candidates are required to submit their applications and pay the applicable fee within the prescribed deadlines.

SSC CHSL 2026 vacancies and salary details

The recruitment has approximately 2,536 tentative vacancies for LDC, JSA, DEO and DEO Grade ‘A’ posts. LDC and JSA positions are in Pay Level 2, with a pay range of Rs. 19,900 to Rs. 63,200.

DEO posts fall under Pay Level 4, carrying Rs. 25,500 to Rs. 81,100, while DEO Grade ‘A’ positions are in Pay Level 5, with a pay range of Rs. 29,200 to Rs. 92,300.

SSC CHSL 2026 eligibility and application fee

Candidates must be aged between 18 and 27 years as on August 1, 2026. Applicants should have been born between August 2, 1999, and August 1, 2008. Applicable age relaxation will be provided according to government rules.

The application fee is Rs. 100 for UR, OBC and EWS male candidates. Women, SC, ST, PwBD and ESM candidates are exempt from paying the fee.

SSC CHSL 2026 selection process

The selection process will include Tier-I, Tier-II, a skill or typing test wherever applicable, and document verification. Both Tier-I and Tier-II will be conducted as computer-based examinations.

Candidates can apply through the SSC website or the my SSC mobile application. The application process includes One-Time Registration, filling in the application form, live photograph capture, signature upload, fee payment where applicable, final submission and downloading the application printout.
