SSC has opened applications for CHSL 2026, offering 2,536 posts. Eligible candidates can apply online, pay fees by October 8, and complete corrections between October 14 and 16, 2026.
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has started the application process for the SSC CHSL Exam 2026. Candidates who want to appear for the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination 2026 can apply through the official SSC website, ssc.gov.in.
Candidates can pay the application fee online until October 8, 2026. The correction window will be available from October 14 to October 16, 2026.
This recruitment drive will fill 2,536 vacancies. Here are the eligibility requirements, age limit, application fee and selection process.
Eligibility Criteria
For Data Entry Operator (DEO) and DEO Grade ‘A’ posts in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Staff Selection Commission and Ministry of Culture, candidates must have passed Class 12 in the Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognised board or an equivalent qualification.
For LDC/JSA and DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ posts, except the DEO posts mentioned above, candidates must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination from a recognised board or university.
Candidates who are appearing for their Class 12 examination can also apply. However, they must have the required qualification by the cut-off date, October 7, 2026.
Age Limit
Candidates should be between 18 and 27 years old.
Applicants must have been born between August 2, 1999 and August 1, 2008, both dates included.
Application Fee
The application fee is Rs 100.
Women candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) and eligible Ex-Servicemen (ESM) categories do not have to pay the fee.
The fee can be paid online through BHIM UPI, Net Banking or Visa, MasterCard, Maestro and RuPay debit cards.
Selection Process
The SSC CHSL selection process will have two stages: Tier-I and Tier-II.
Tier-I:
Tier-I will have objective-type multiple-choice questions. The questions will be available in English, Hindi and the language selected by the candidate while filling out the application form.
There will be a negative marking of 0.50 marks for every wrong answer. Candidates should keep this in mind while attempting the exam.
Tier-II:
- Tier-II will be held in two sessions on the same day.
- Session-I will include Section-I, Section-II and Section-III. It will have a duration of 2 hours and 15 minutes.
- Session-II will include Section-IV, which is the Skill Test or Typing Test.
