
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has invited applications for the Junior Engineer Examination, 2026, for recruitment to various Group ‘B’ posts, with around 1,748 tentative vacancies.
The online application process began on September 2 and will remain open till September 22, up to 11 pm.

The examination will cover posts including Junior Engineer (Civil), Junior Engineer (Mechanical), Junior Engineer (Electrical), Junior Engineer (Electrical and Mechanical), Junior Engineer (Telecom) and Scientific Assistant in the India Meteorological Department (IMD), with the latter carrying Pay Level-6.
Eligible candidates, including graduates, students and job-seekers meeting the prescribed qualifications, can apply within the stipulated period.
Reservation for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Economically Weaker Sections and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities will be provided in accordance with existing government rules and the vacancies reported by the concerned indenting organisations and offices.

The SSC has clarified that there will be no reservation for Ex-Servicemen as the Junior Engineer posts covered under the examination are classified as Group ‘B’ posts. However, eligible Ex-Servicemen candidates will be entitled to age relaxation as per applicable government rules.
