Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath announced one lakh government appointments in six months, claiming over 9.3 lakh jobs have been provided since 2017 through transparent recruitment.
New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said the state government would provide appointment letters to one lakh youths over the next six months. He also claimed that more than 9.3 lakh government jobs had been given since 2017 through a transparent and merit-based recruitment process.
Speaking at an appointment letter distribution programme in Lucknow, Adityanath said recruitment had been carried out according to merit and reservation rules, without discrimination. Appointment letters were handed over to 3,446 technical assistants and 126 market secretaries at the event.
“It gives me pleasure to say that during this period, our government has succeeded in providing government jobs to more than 9,30,000 youths of Uttar Pradesh, and no one can raise a question over even a single appointment,” he said.
Yogi targets previous government over recruitment
Without naming former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and his uncle Shivpal Yadav, Adityanath accused the previous government of corruption in recruitment.
He alleged that before 2017, a ‘chacha-bhatija’ duo and the entire Mahabharata family would travel across the state for vasooli whenever recruitment advertisements were issued.
Adityanath said young people spent years appearing for examinations but often did not receive results on time, while some cases eventually reached courts. He blamed the system at the time on corrupt officials, recruitment bodies and politicians.
He said his government had adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards crime and corruption and had taken action against what he called the copying mafia.
Recruitment timelines to be cut
Adityanath said recruitment examinations had been completed for several posts and results were being processed. He asked recruitment commissions and boards to shorten the time taken to complete the process.
“We do not want a situation where a young person has to be provoked because he has appeared for an examination but the result has not come,” he said.
The chief minister also claimed that the UP Board examinations, which involve around 56 lakh students, are now completed in 14 days, with results released within the following 14 days.
He said recruitment should be completed within six months of requisition, with advertisements issued within a month and examinations and results completed thereafter.
Adityanath said the 9.3 lakh government jobs had helped Uttar Pradesh benefit from its young population and contributed to the growth of the state’s economy and per capita income.
